2019 Lake County YMCA Dream Semi-Finalists

OBYN KATZENSTEIN WINS THE 2019 YMCA DREAM HOUSE!

Tim Wallenhorst Also Wins the 2019 Chevy Camaro

Congratulations to Robyn Katzenstein of Chardon OH, the winner of the 26th Lake County YMCA Dream House located in Willoughby Hills. Additionally, Tim Wallenhorst of Paa Heights, OH won the 2019 Chevy Camaro.

“When I turned the key I was shocked. I didn’t even have a chance to tour the house before today and it's just beautiful. I am so happy for my family, that I won today,” said Robyn. It is not yet decided if Robyn and her husband Steve will take the 2019 Dream House and its furnishings (estimated value more than $500,000) or choose the $275,000 cash prize.

John McCurdy of Classic Chevrolet of Mentor, who assisted participants in the drawing for the 2019 Chevy Camaro said, “We’re happy to contribute for a ninth year in a row by donating a car to the drawing. We hope this special car helped generate more excitement for the Dream House and thereby generate more revenue for the Y to have great programs and do the wonderful things that they do for everyone in our community.” The 2019 Chevy Camaro is valued at over $30,000.

“I couldn’t have imagined it. This is so cool,” said a shocked and excited Tim Wallenhorst after winning the Chevy Camaro and watching the nine previous semi-finalists choose keys that did not open the box.

“We are so grateful for another record year of sales and anticipate record net profits. This is inspirational for us because we know we can provide the needed programs and resources to properly serve our community,” said Kirk Stonebrook, Lake County YMCA 2019 Dream House Project Coordinator.  "We especially want to thank major sponsors for 2019 including ProBuilt Homes, The Chevy Network/Classic Chevrolet, Sims-Lohman and McCaskey Landscaping,” he added.

Dick Bennett, Lake County Y Executive Director also made a few comments including talking about how some of the proceeds from the Dream House project have supported critical programs to improve lives of Y members and others in the community. He shared a personal story written by a Y member whose son received the encouragement he needed to overcome personal challenges to achieve his goals. As a result of the Y swim program and the dedication of Y staff to help each member achieve their goals while adapting to their unique needs, he overcame any fears and become a more confident swimmer.

The Y reinvests every dollar raised from the Dream House back into the community by enhancing our programs and facilities which allows us to accomplish our mission. It is not yet determined how proceeds from the 2019 Dream House will be used, but each of the Lake County Y branches are beginning to determine what enhancements they can make to best meet the needs of their members,” added Dick Bennett.

For more than 25 years, Lake County YMCA Dream House has not only given a winning family the opportunity of a lifetime, but also provided more than $5 million (approximately $200,000 per year) to the Y to help strengthen our community by bringing about meaningful change through resources that enrich lives for all those that live in Lake County. Annual proceeds from the project enhance the Y with facility and equipment improvements for the more than 50,000 members and program participants at each of its branches.
